PVP gear & Gearscore.

PVP gear & Gearscore.
I'm not quite sure about the situations on other realms, but on my realm Jubei'thos, theres been this issue with PUGs that is really bugging me. I've been trying to lead weekly ICC25/TOTC25 raids, looking for 5.2K/4.8K GS people respectively for moderately fast clearing, but recently with the release of the new Arena season Wrathful gear, I've been getting more and more super high gear score people dealing/healing awful amounts of damage, with closer inspection I come to realise these people are all decked in the new season PVP gear, which in my personal opinion is nowhere comparable to their PVE gearscore equivalent counterparts or even lower gearscore PVE gears for that matter with the exception of melee/ranged weapons. PVP wise, I don't see people asking for Gearscore, rather they ask for Resilience and arena experience, so I'm suggesting we leave PVP gears (maybe except for the weapons) out of gearscore?

RE: PVP gear & Gearscore.
It's bad everywhere, especially with a large, ignorant, immature population like stormreaver.
You could probably do this by making any pvp gear drop down to the next lower item level of gear.

Also, could you make GS base off of their gs for their spec, and not just for their gear?

Pretty much the same everywhere, my suggestion would be to have the add-on send a /whisp to anyone how has gearscore addon when it detects a pvp item, thus you'll be able to know without looking hard to find out about this and boot them before you start

RE: PVP gear & Gearscore.
I was going to suggest the same thing. I've noticed some people in ICC and especially VoA PUGs, I see bad players wearing triumph PVP gear and what ever gear they win a VoA. Last week, I ran VoA 25 PUG with a ret paladin who had a 5.2k GS, but his DPS was BARELY over the tanks'.

When I /inspect him he was in a mix of T9, T10.3 legs (I assume voa drop), and the rest was 232 triumph and 251 pvp gear (probably voa drops), the guy looked liked he geared by ilvl with total disregard for stats, set bonuses, and relevancy to spec.

When people say it's easy to get a high GS, this is what they mean. I have a decent 5.5k GS, but if I equip my tank and pvp gear w/ the highest ilvl, my GS is a few points shy of 6k. GS is far too general to be reliable method to check if someone is geared enough for an instance. I mean a healer with a 6k GS can't tank any more than a tank with a 2k GS. A tank with a 6k GS can't out DPS a guy with 3k GS. When you see someone's GS (with out inspecting) how can you tell that gear is for that particular role?

What I suggest is to divide GS into four numbers instead of just one. Make your addon look for certain stats on gear typical for a role like resilience, defense, and mp5, if any of those stats is found on a piece of gear, score is added to the to the relevant rolescore, but the same time score is subtracted from other rolescores. lets say GS finds defense and avoidance on a chest piece, so instead of adding a score to a general number, it adds to a TankScore. However, at the same time score is subtracted from DPS-score, HealScore, and PvPscore.

What you get is a number that gives a raid leads a better idea what a player can do. Also, makes it harder for players to cheat for a high GS, because they can't just grab ANY high ilevel item for a high gearscore.

RE: PVP gear & Gearscore.
If you open the gearscore window, you will see specsscores....

And as you can guess specscores are penalized heavily for PVP gear.

Imho a summary screen to show specscores for all raid members would be good.

Heres an idea... QUIT USING GEARSCORE to PICK THE PPL YOU WANNA RAID WITH.. GS= FAIL

RE: PVP gear & Gearscore.
Now for my idea: The one thing I dont like about GS is how people can "cheat" by putting on PvP items so they can get carried through raids by people with PvE items, and "real" gearscores. Sure, you can always armory/inspect them, but that completely defeats the purpose of the addon!

What I propose is that PvP gear should give negative gearscore, and PvE gear should remain positive. Before you jump down my throat to say this is a terrible idea, think about it for a sec. If you see someone running around in a -6k gs, you would know they're a total pvp badass, and would want them in your arena team. If someone tried to "cheat" and use their PvP gear to get into a PvE raid, they'd get royally screwed over for it because their GS would drastically drop.

RE: PVP gear & Gearscore.
I believe this is probably an issue on most servers.
I for one have seen this problem many times and had to watch gear be given to PvP equipped people whom were carried through raids.
Surely the responsibility falls on the raid leader to ensure this doesn't happen. However changes to GS may significantly assist in weeding these types of players out. In essence helping game play run much smoother, isn't this the purpose of addons to begin with?

I believe there needs to be a separate GS for PVP items or not awarding GS to any item with Resilience.
In all honestly no one should be wearing any PvP items while in a PVE raid. So PvP items should not be awarded GS as would a PVE item. Those players who do not have PVE items to replace their PvP gear should run heroics to build their set like the rest of us did.
GS has become one of the major requirements in order to be accepted into a raid, like it or not.
I believe finding a solution to this specific issue will greatly improve GS in turn improve the way raids are assembled.
